Patient Participation Group

The Village Health Group has an established Patient Participation Group (PPG) made up of Volunteers from patients or their carer’s registered at the Practice. The PPG works in partnership with the Practice staff and doctors and meets every 6 to 8 weeks to discuss and support the running of the practice to improve services to the local population and to promote health.

The PPG operates within a nationally proposed framework but largely it is up to members how it works. The locally agreed priorities of the Village Health Group PPG are:

  • Promoting Public Health and wellbeing – helping our communities to take greater responsibility and to be more proactive in their own health
  • Raising awareness of the services available through the Village Health Group – signposting, improving access, developing simple communications
  • Strengthening relationships between the Village Health Group, PPG and patient population – supporting more effective two-way communication between practice staff and patients
  • Seeking feedback on the services provided to input into the improvement/development of local services- conducting patient surveys and collecting feedback
  • Linking with other patient groups and health bodies in the Rushcliffe area – attending local health promotion events, liaising with other PPGs

Membership of the PPG should as far as possible be representative of the patient population. To join the PPG you must be must be registered with the Village Health Group Practice. PPG Meetings take place every 6-8 weeks alternating day time (1-3PM) or evenings (7-9PM) in venues in East Leake or Keyworth. An option to join the meeting remotely is also available. Members should commit to attending (in person or remotely) at least 4 meetings per year to remain an active member of the group.
