We are looking to recruit an experienced Dispenser (NVQ level 2 or equivalent) or Dispensary Assistant to join our team at Village Health Group

Village Health Group (VHG) is a large practice of around 26,000 patients in Rushcliffe, South Nottinghamshire. The practice formed in April 2020 from the merger of East Leake Medical Group and Keyworth Medical Practice, both of which have been rated outstanding by the CQC. VHG works across four sites, with our main sites in East Leake and Keyworth and branch surgeries in Ruddington and Sutton Bonington. Our Dispensary is at our Keyworth Site

We are looking for a well-motivated person with excellent interpersonal skills. This is a busy and demanding role requiring someone who is able to work accurately under pressure both independently and within a team. IT literacy and keyboard skills are essential. Experience of using SystmOne clinical system would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be given. Dispensary duties include the processing of prescriptions, ordering stock and maintaining an efficient dispensing service. Excellent customer service and attention to detail are essential.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Issuing prepared prescriptions
  • Operation of efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of dispensary with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage
  • Ensuring that drugs are recieved and stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the manufacturers' instructions
  • Ensuring refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintaining the temperature control/logbook
  • Cleaning work surfaces and shelving on a regular basis and ensuring that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and kept in good working order
  • Maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions
  • Undertaking other reasonable duties within the framework of the post as directed by the denior dispenser
  • Dispensing the first check of prescriptions
  • Using the computer to keep records up to date
  • Checking with medical staff or in patient records if concerned about the appropriateness of requuests for medication 
  • Ordering drugs using the software link to the wholesalers
  • Handling controlled drugs (and keeping register)
  • Assisting in stock checks
  • Providing cover for annual leave/sickness 

Salary

£11.44 - £11.63 per hour

Hours

Full time (part time will be considered for the right candidate)

Our dispensary opening hours are;

Monday to Friday 8.00am -18.30 pm

The successful candidate must be able to work a shift pattern during these hours.

Patient Participation Group Applications Available

This volunatary role is aimed at any of our patients who would like to have regular input about the way the surgery operates day to day.

The group currently holds virtual meetings regularly to discuss important topics and give the surgery advice and views from a patient standpoint to help better the service for other patients.
