Not sure what to do with your used inhalers?
- It is important to clean your inhaler before returning it or disposing of it. This will help to ensure that harmful chemicals are not released into the environment. Follow these steps to clean your inhaler:
- Remove the mouthpiece cover.
- Separate the metal.
- Rinse the plastic part with warm water for 30 seconds.
- Dry your inhaler before using it again.
- Use the inhaler correctly. Don’t waste any of the medication by not using it in the right way.
- Have a regular asthma review with a nurse to check that you are taking the correct strength of the medication. This may mean that you can reduce your reliance on inhalers and therefore produce less waste.
- Have a spare inhaler, so you don’t need to get a new one every time yours runs out.
Want to Give Blood?
Stocks of blood are critically low. If you're O negative or O positive, we need you right now so we can get lifesaving blood to people in need.
Tens of thousands of people are doing something amazing by registering to join our growing community of blood donors - ready to save lives when the NHS needs them.
At the moment we particularly need:
- Male donors - men can donate more often than women
- Black donors - Ro blood is needed and a common type for black donors
- O negative donors - hospitals need this blood type most regularly, as it can be given to all patients

We would like to let our patients know that after almost 28 years of service at Keyworth Medical Practice and more latterly Village Health Group (VHG), Dr Langridge will be stepping down from her role as GP Partner at the end of March. Whilst sadly Dr Langridge will no longer be seeing patients as a GP at VHG, we are pleased to still have her as part of the team as she moves on to take a more specialist clinical role at VHG which will be aligned to her interests and expertise in Gynaecology.
It has been a privilege to have Dr Langridge as part of the GP partnership , those that have worked alongside her know that she strives for excellence in patient care and that she has given her all over the years through her true and unwavering dedication to General Practice. Her continued care and compassion for so many grateful patients will be sorely missed.

Village Health Group Merger & Our Patients
On April 1st 2020, East Leake Medical Group merged with Keyworth Medical Group to become Village Health Group (VHG). The merger has provided us with an exciting opportunity to review and improve the services we provide. The practice has branches in East Leake, Keyworth, Ruddington and Sutton Bonington.
Over the last few months, despite the COVID 19 pandemic the practice has been working hard to review the service we offer.
The COVID 19 pandemic has been a very challenging time for patients, carers and our practice staff. Throughout this time our surgeries have been open to provide help and advice to all patients.
The pandemic has impacted the way which we offer care. In line with local and national guidance we have been providing telephone appointments initially and inviting patients into the surgery and providing home visits only when needed. This is to reduce the numbers of patients in our surgeries in order to reduce infection risks. This has provided positive opportunities for changing the way we consult with our patients. We have introduced video consultations and have the technology to send and receive questionnaires, information leaflets, medical certificates and photographs via mobile phones.
The reintroduction of routine services is well underway. Patients are now being offered appointments for long term condition reviews, smears, contraceptive services, joint injections and minor surgery.
We now move into a critical time as we approach autumn and winter, and the flu season. Patients will receive information about our flu vaccination programme over the coming weeks.
We have designed a patient survey to understand how the changes during COVID 19 have impacted patients and their carer’s. We will use this feedback to help develop our services moving forward. Many of the changes may need to remain in place for the foreseeable future due to the on-going pandemic. However we are aware that not all patients comfortable with these new types of consultations and we are committed to providing care for all patients according to their needs and preferences.
We are also introducing a regular newsletter to keep patients and carers updated about the practice services.
Throughout the pandemic we have been looking after all members of our practice team. We have had regular meetings to share information and discuss how to implement frequently changing guidance. All staff have undergone risk assessments and we have worked with them to ensure they feel safe at work.
We are very grateful for the cooperation, and understanding of our patients and their families during this time. The surgery team has responded magnificently to a seemingly interminable and very difficult set of conditions and pressures. Your tolerance and good will has made much easier than it otherwise might have been.
We would also like to acknowledge the support we have received from the local Primary Care Network, neighbouring practices with whom we have collaborated closely and the Clinical Commissioning Group.

Covid-19 Precautions
The practice team at Village Health Group have been working hard to ensure that the medical practice remains a safe place for its patients and staff.
We have been carrying out a number of risk assessments to ensure that we operate in line with Government Guidelines regarding Covid-19.
We would like to reassure our patients that a number of actions have been taken to ensure the protection of our staff and patients such as:
- Clinical staff will be wearing PPE in line with infection control guidelines when seeing patients
- Patients are requested to attend appointments alone where possible and if appropriate
- We are asking all patients visiting the practice to wear a mask or face covering (such as a scarf or bandana)
- We are asking patients to arrive on time for their appointment, please do not arrive too early or late to avoid unnecessary prolonged contact with other patients in the waiting area
- Increased cleaning measures in line with infection control guidelines throughout the practice
- Protection screens at reception
- Socially distanced seating in the waiting area
- Hand gel and sanitisation products available for patients in the waiting room and clinical rooms
- Zoned entrances and toilet facilities/ one way system implemented
The practice is currently operating a telephone triage appointment system. If you require an appointment with a doctor or nurse, please telephone reception who will arrange a telephone appointment in the first instance.
We would ask that patients do not attend the practice unless a face to face appointment has been arranged with a doctor or nurse.
